Intensive Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while inhabitants in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the America, the EU and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks hit power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

He said technical personnel and officials were anticipating additional strikes.
